FlashShare is built by two students between their own exams, so this list moves in bursts rather than on a schedule. Newest first. The entries about things that do not work yet are here on purpose — they are the ones worth trusting.

Coming back tomorrow

Spaced repetition only works if you return, so this release is mostly about the app being able to ask you to.

  • NewAfter you finish a session, FlashShare offers to remind you at 8pm on the days you have cards due. One reminder, nothing else, and you can switch it off in your profile.
  • FixedThirty-one cards were showing a [SEMAK] tag on the question. That is an internal mark meaning "a human still needs to check this fact against the textbook" and it was never meant to leave our own files. The cards are unchanged; the tag is gone.
  • ImprovedQuizzes no longer says "Soon" in the menu. It shipped last week.
  • NoteReminders were built in July and had never been switched on by a single person, because the only way to find the setting was to go looking for it in your profile. That is on us, not on you.
  • NoteThe teacher dashboard is now part of Gold, or of a school partnership. Everything students use stays free.

Three more subjects

Chemistry and Ekonomi arrive in full, and Biology finishes.

  • NewChemistry Tingkatan 4 and 5, complete: all thirteen chapters, 648 cards, written to the KSSM syllabus.
  • NewEkonomi Tingkatan 4 and 5, complete: 434 cards, written entirely in Bahasa Melayu like Sejarah.
  • NewBiology Tingkatan 5, completing the subject: plants, ecology, inheritance and genetic technology, 582 cards.
  • NoteThat is 1,664 new cards across 32 decks. They had been written for weeks and were sitting in a folder — the delay was ours, and none of it was waiting on anything.
  • NoteFour cards across the new subjects carry facts our sources disagreed on. They are in the decks and flagged internally for checking against the textbook.

Quizzes, for real

The Quizzes slot had been a promise since August. This is the thing itself.

  • NewPractise on your own: sixteen ready-made quizzes across Biology, Chemistry and Ekonomi, at your own pace with no timer. You find out straight away whether you were right, and it remembers where you stopped.
  • NewJoin a live quiz: your teacher puts a six digit code on the board, everyone answers together against the clock, and the scoreboard goes up between questions.
  • NewTeachers can write their own quizzes, borrow a colleague’s, and run any of them on the projector.
  • SecurityThe correct answer never reaches your phone until you have answered. Marking happens on our server, and a second tap cannot walk the four options looking for the green one.
  • NoteThe 185 questions were built from the flashcard decks, but only where a chapter had four cards asking the same kind of question — so the wrong answers are plausible rather than obviously wrong. That rule is why there are 185 and not the eight hundred the decks could have produced.

For teachers

A dashboard for the person teaching the class, not just the students in it.

  • NewA teacher dashboard at teachers.flashshare.net: what the class actually studies and when, which topics are being forgotten fastest, and who has quietly stopped opening the app.
  • NewTeachers can build a deck by pasting a page of notes, writing cards one at a time, or clicking words in a sentence to blank them. No Anki syntax to learn.
  • NewQuizzes that run live on the projector, and formal papers assembled from real SPM and IGCSE past questions with their marking schemes attached.
  • NoteTeachers see a worked demo class until we approve their account, so they can judge the thing before asking for it. Email us and we will connect it to your own students.
  • NoteTwo panels stay blank on a real class: rank movement needs a second week of data, and topic decay needs a syllabus map we have not built. We would rather leave them empty than fill them with a zero you might act on.

Finding everything

The app had grown to fifteen destinations behind a bar that holds five. This release is about the other ten.

  • NewTap Home while you are already on Home and it opens a list of every part of the app, grouped so you are not reading fifteen equal choices.
  • NewA first-run tour that points at the real buttons on your screen rather than showing pictures of them.
  • ImprovedBack now returns to wherever you opened a screen from, instead of a fixed parent that sometimes dropped you somewhere you had never been.
  • ImprovedThe free deck marketplace moved back under Library, which is where people were looking for it.
  • NoteFour AI tools are reserved in the menu and marked "Coming to Gold" — Magic Import, video and audio to cards, photo scanning, and topic-to-quiz. None of them are built. The descriptions say exactly what they will do and nothing more.

Decks worth sharing

Everything a student makes can now reach every other student, and your school gets a rival.

  • NewA free marketplace of decks published by other students, ranked by upvotes, with a moderation queue so nothing lands unread. Nothing on it costs anything.
  • NewA school-versus-school leaderboard, scored on the best five students rather than a total, so a bigger school cannot win on headcount alone.
  • NewPersonal bests: your own records, derived from what you have already done rather than asking you to set goals.
  • NewComplete Sejarah decks for Form 4 and Form 5, and Biology Form 4.
  • ImprovedDeeper analytics for Gold members, enforced on the server rather than hidden in the app.
  • NoteThe Quizzes slot appeared in the menu marked "Soon", with a screen that says plainly it does not exist yet and asks whether you want it. How many people ask is what decides when we build it.

FlashMetrics

Ranking by hours rewards leaving a timer running. This replaces it with a score you have to earn.

  • NewFlashMetrics: one score out of 1000, computed on our servers from what you actually recalled — how much retrieval practice you did, how accurate it was, and how consistently you turned up. Raw hours are capped at a tenth of it.
  • ImprovedEvery leaderboard in the app now uses that same score, so "who is doing well" has one answer instead of three.
  • ImprovedSharing a study card to Instagram is now measured, so we can tell which parts of the app spread on their own.

Security, privacy and polish

A week spent on the things you should never have to notice.

  • SecurityCheckout moved entirely to the server, account deletion added, and a hole closed that let one student see another's identity through the leaderboard.
  • SecurityPDPA consent is recorded at sign-up, and the privacy policy is reachable from inside the app rather than only from the website.
  • FixedStudy data is now tied to the signed-in account. On a shared phone, or after one student signed out and another signed in, the second was seeing the first's hours and streak as their own.
  • FixedDemo data was leaking into brand-new accounts, so a real student's first login showed somebody else's figures.
  • ImprovedEvery emoji in the app replaced with a drawn icon, so it looks the same on an iPhone, an Android and a school computer.
  • FixedWe stopped reporting several statistics we could not actually support. Some numbers disappeared from your profile; none of them were ever right.

Statistics and friends

Study is more interesting when you can see your own shape, and when your friends are in it.

  • NewA Statistics screen: your streak, your subjects, the hours behind them, and where the weak spots are.
  • NewFriends, added by scanning a QR code that rotates so an old screenshot cannot be reused, with live presence so you can see who is studying now.
  • NewPost to story: a real camera experience that exports a card with a scannable code on it.
  • ImprovedThe beta is capped at 1,500 accounts, counted against real sign-ups only, so we cannot quietly drift into costs we cannot cover.

Pre-beta hardening

The unglamorous work that had to happen before letting a school in.

  • SecurityRate limiting on the admin surface now holds across every server rather than one at a time, which is the only version that stops a real brute-force attempt.
  • NewThe BETA chip on the home screen doubles as the report-a-problem button, so telling us something is broken is one tap from the first screen instead of three taps into a settings menu.
  • NoteWe shipped without scheduled study reminders and added an honest notifications toggle instead. A reminder we could not reliably deliver is worse than no reminder.

The baseline

The first version we were willing to put in front of anyone.

  • NewSpaced repetition, decks, and the study loop the whole app is built around.
  • NewStudy rooms rebuilt around Kad, with real pause and resume and a leaderboard based on who is actually present.
  • NewWeb push notifications.
  • NoteiOS home-screen widgets cannot be built from a web app. We said so at the time rather than putting them on a roadmap we could not deliver.

We did not tag releases during the beta, so these version numbers were assigned afterwards by grouping the history where it naturally breaks. Nothing here is numbered above 1.0, because the app is still in beta and we would rather the numbering said so.
